Robert Bell is one of the Principals of Roaming Agriculture, his extensive experience in both agronomy and animal production gives him a perspective on profit drivers in agriculture. After attaining a science degree in agriculture, Rob began his professional career as an agronomist in the Western Riverina of NSW. Working with customers on a varying range of crops including broadacre irrigation and dry land cropping, annual and perennial horticultural crops and pasture production. With close to 10 years in this role, a new passion was ignited through his experience in pasture production. The pasture production experience allowed him to realise that a more thorough understanding of animal production was needed to capture the full benefits of pasture production. Through further study and experience Rob transitioned from an agronomist to an animal production specialist.
The past 8 years has been spent consulting both nationally and internationally to many sectors of the industry, including processors, producers and rural resellers. Projects have been many and varies across all production phases of the sheep, beef, dairy, and the venison industries; delivering a combination of nutritional and management strategies, focusing on improving the economic performance while maximising animal welfare. As part of these projects, leading edge reproductive technologies were implemented, combining nutrition, management and technology to deliver better outcomes.
